• bacteriological (mycological) research of clinical material obtained from patients with neurosurgical pathology;
• determining the sensitivity of selected pathogens to antibiotics and antimycotics;
• monitoring of antibiotic resistance of pathogens using the software of the WHO information network — WHO NET-5;
• examination of epidemically dangerous objects in the external environment of the intensive care unit and the neurosurgical hospital.

The main direction of scientific research of the bacteriological laboratory is the substantiation of rational protocols of empiric and targeted antibiotic therapy of infectious complications in patients with neurosurgical pathology in the postoperative period.
