Scientific library of the Romodanov Neurosurgery Institute was established in 1928, when the Kyiv Research Psychoneurological Institute was founded by Order No. 8 of the People’s Commissariat of Health Care of the Ukrainian SSR dated February 14, 1928.

In 1950, the Kyiv Institute of Neurosurgery became the legal successor of the Kyiv Psychoneurological Institute, and the library became the scientific department and intellectual center of the institute.

The first head of the library (until 1962) was R.Yu. Karlinska, from 1962 to 1966 – K. E. Rudyak, from 1966 to 1968 – B.Yu. Taraschanska, from 1969 to 1995 – I. A. Zhuk. Since 1995, the head of the scientific library is Svitlana Borisivna Krychun.

The current library book stock numbers more than 82,000 books and journals in Ukrainian, Russian, English and other languages.

Scientific products developed by Romodanov Neurosurgery Institute workers are continuously recorded and registered. Currently, the library has 225 monographs and about 30,000 articles by institute workers.
