On April 11, 2026, a scientific and practical conference “Pain after amputation: modern treatment strategies” was heldOn April 11, 2026, the State Institution “Romodanov Neurosurgery Institute of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine” hosted the scientific and practical conference “Post-Amputation Pain: Modern Treatment Strategies,” which brought together leading specialists from the Institute of Neurosurgery, the Main Military Clinical Hospital, Feofaniya Hospital, and other medical institutions. The event began with a minute of silence to honor the memory of those who lost their lives, followed by the performance of the National Anthem of Ukraine. The participants were welcomed by Ihor Anatoliiovych Lurin, Academician of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, Vice President of the NAMS of Ukraine, and Major General of the Medical Service. The participants were also greeted by Mykhailo Vitaliiovych Khyzhniak, Director of the State Institution “Romodanov Neurosurgery Institute of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine,” Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, and Honored Doctor of Ukraine. The conference served as a professional platform for discussing modern approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of post-amputation pain. Key topics included the pathophysiology of phantom pain, contemporary pharmacotherapy for neuropathic pain, interventional treatment methods, neuromodulation, the use of botulinum therapy, as well as the role of prosthetics, rehabilitation, and innovative technologies. The event brought together leading experts from various specialties, including both military and civilian physicians, highlighting the relevance of this issue in the current context. Particular attention was paid to a multidisciplinary approach, involving close collaboration among neurosurgeons, neurologists, anesthesiologists, and rehabilitation specialists to achieve optimal functional recovery in patients.
