On October 8, 2025, under the auspices of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, the State Institution “Romodanov Neurosurgery Institute of the NAMS of Ukraine” hosted the first international master class on endoscopic spine surgery ever held in Ukraine.

Leading specialists from Ukraine and India took part in the event:
Dr. Girish P. Datar – expert at the Center for Endoscopic Spinal Surgery, Sushruta Hospital (India), specialist in minimally invasive spinal surgery and pain management, author of unique training programs;
Professor V. Piontkovskyi – Doctor of Medical Sciences, Honored Doctor of Ukraine, President of the Ukrainian Spine Surgery Association, and Chairman of the Rivne Region Association of Orthopedic Traumatologists.

The scientific program was opened by Professor Mykhaylo Khyzhniak, Acting Director of the Romodanov Neurosurgery Institute of the NAMS of Ukraine. Participants heard insightful presentations by Dr. Girish P. Datar and Professor V. Piontkovskyi dedicated to modern endoscopic spine surgery.

During the second, practical part of the workshop, held in the operating unit, various endoscopic approaches to the spine were demonstrated on a simulation training model. Special thanks were expressed to Professor V. Piontkovskyi for providing state-of-the-art simulation equipment.

Young specialists had the opportunity to work independently with the instruments, improve their skills, and gain valuable hands-on experience.

The event concluded with a constructive discussion between the guests and the institute’s staff. Participants expressed their mutual commitment to developing inter-institutional cooperation, implementing educational initiatives, and introducing innovative techniques in spine surgery.
