On September 5, 2025, under the chairmanship of Academician of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Yevhenii Heorhiiovych Pedachenko, a meeting of the Academic Council of the State Institution “Romodanov Neurosurgery Institute of the NAMS of Ukraine” was held.

The agenda included the following issues:

Discussion and approval of the establishment of the Department for Cooperation with the National Health Service of Ukraine within the structure of the Institute.

Nomination of a candidate for the position of Director of the Institution.

On the first issue, members of the Academic Council heard a report by the Acting Director of the Institute, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Mykhailo Khyzhniak, on the need to establish the Department for Cooperation with the NHSU in order to ensure quality and effective interaction between the state provider of medical services to the population and the service provider, which is our Institute.
The proposal was adopted and unanimously supported by the members of the Academic Council.

On the second issue, the members of the Academic Council heard and supported the proposal of the Chairman of the Academic Council of the Institute, Academician of the NAMS of Ukraine, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Yevhenii Pedachenko, to nominate the Acting Director of the Institution, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Mykhailo Khyzhniak, for the position of Director of the Institute.
It was recommended to prepare an official appeal from the Academic Council to the Presidium of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine.

In accordance with the Law of Ukraine “On Scientific and Scientific-Technical Activity” and other statutory and legislative acts, on August 20, 2025, the Presidium of the NAMS of Ukraine announced a competition for the vacant position of Director of the State Institution “Romodanov Neurosurgery Institute of the NAMS of Ukraine.” Applications from candidates are accepted until October 18, 2025, inclusive.

Head of the Department of Minimally Invasive and Laser Spinal Neurosurgery. He is highly skilled in both standard and the most advanced endoscopic and microsurgical treatment methods. He has performed a significant number of successful surgeries, with thousands of patients restored to active life thanks to his professional expertise.

Mykhailo Vitaliiovych is a renowned scientist in Ukraine and abroad. Author of more than 200 scientific papers, including 5 scientific monographs; Vice President of the NGO “Ukrainian Neurosurgical Association”; member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons. Co-organizer of the implementation of medical residency in the specialty “Neurosurgery.”
By the decision of the Presidium of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, he has been serving as Acting Director of the Institute since May 15, 2025.
