MSCA was established by the European Union / European Commission to support research and innovation within the European Research Area (ERA). MSCA provides €1.25 billion to support cutting-edge research and a new pilot initiative called “Choose Europe for Science.”

MSCA programs such as “Postdoctoral Fellowships”, “Doctoral Networks”, and “Staff Exchanges” operate under Horizon Europe until 2027 and are aimed at supporting research careers, including those of medical professionals with scientific experience. Fellowships under these programs are awarded by the European Commission across scientific disciplines within Horizon Europe.
